DOS Attacks: The Verizon DBIR report identified DOS attacks as the most common attack vector that target customer applications. These types of attacks are focused on exhausting server resources thereby denying legitimate user’s access to an application.
Automated Attacks: Simple automated attacks using stolen credentials represented over 80% of all web application attacks. Attackers found the most success with using brute-force techniques that utilized stolen customer data obtained from prior data breaches.
